Leave a legacy not a sticky plaster!
People are all to keen to offer advice and fill in the silent gaps with their own rhetoric. They may give the short term answer but how long does it last? Did the person just take it because the person who gave it thought they knew better? or for ease?
How good would it be if we stayed silent, allowed the person to search and come up with their solution or suggestion? A solution or suggestion which they thought of, they believe in and they commit to!
So the next time you feel yourself going to offer advice or fill in that pregnant pause, STOP, and allow them to search for the answer.
