As a coach and consult you may read this and think that I am mad for telling you that you don’t need to spend the earth to get the best out of your people. A little common sense, the right attitude and a will to make a difference to your business and peoples working lives is ALL it takes.

The use of improvement teams within any organisation can achieve not only great results for the metrics of the business but foster a sense of being listened to, worth, involvement and self belief that is sometimes lacking in the work environment.

In the Case study “In-house improvement Team beats the Experts” I outline one such case, there are many more!

Taking time out for people to concentrate upon one topic, theme or challenge can be for small, medium and large businesses alike a painful process. Logistically it can be a nightmare. Who will do that when he or she is not there?

Mark my words, take the time out, plan the release of people for 1 week to focus on the things that will make a difference. Be it change over times, waste reduction (in all its guises), a new operating system, the list can go on. Focus on the long term growth and benefits instead of the short term pain it may bring.

A cross functional team who create a goal, focus and see it through to the final outcome will get results, sometimes way beyond their and your expectations.

1 week to get results and foster a new outlook on the individual contribution people can make, sounds good?

By training individuals within your organisation simple problem solving techniques and giving a structured method to deliver an effective improvement team your organisation will grow both the bottom line and a better workplace culture/environment. As well as leaving the legacy of how its done and the chance to build upon it.

Great team, great individuals and a great organisation. Go on call me and we will see how we can grow it together.
